Pre-school / Toddlers Routine
7.30/8.00 - 9.15am
Breakfast (optional) – children are provided with breakfast items and will
sit down together to eat.
Free Play - Children are encouraged to get out and play with the resources and
equipment they most enjoy.
Daily Adult Focused activities – children will take part in a range of planned activities
to develop skills such as sharing, communication, early literacy, early mathematics etc.
Key group activities focusing on individual developmental needs are also planned.
Tidy up time and washing hands follows,
Snack – children will sit together to taste different fruits/vegetables, explore different
textures and develop social skills. Learning manners such as please
and thank-you. Milk is offered.
Circle Time - Group reading, Singing songs, talking box activities, show and tell, flash
card games (letters, numbers, shapes, phonics, pictures etc.)
10.30 – 11.30am
Toddlers - Outside play and activities
Pre-School - Messy Play activities and Structured free play and activities
Developing skills in a range of activities. Children are encouraged to get out and play
with the resources and equipment they most enjoy. Key person activities focusing on
individual developmental needs are also planned
11.30 – 12.00pm
Movement session - Various games and physical development activities in the hall.
Scooters, hoops, bean bags, hop-skotch, balls, sensory scarves, music and dance etc.
12.00am – 12.30pm
Hand washing to encourage good hygiene skills.
Lunch Time – children will sit together at tables to eat, developing new tastes
and social skills
12.30 – 2pm
Sleep time Toddlers / Quiet time Pre-School – Mats and blankets set out for toddlers
to sleep, staff will sit and encourage children to sleep.
Pre-school have quiet time until 1pm- they choose a book and sit in the book area for quiet time
Pre-School 1pm-2pm -
Outside play and activities - We enjoy visiting the swing park, Windsford Gardens,
and the local Library
2pm - 3pm
Pre-school free play and activities - developing skills in a range of activities.

3.00 – 3.30pm
Circle Time- Group reading / singing - to develop early communication and listening
skills, followed by hand-washing to encourage good hygiene skills
Tea Time - children will sit together at tables to eat, developing new tastes
and social skills
4.00 – 4.30pm
I.C.T games and activities - Children enjoy using the keyboard, electronic till, walking robot
and remote control. As well as the computer and iPads to play
educational games - learning numbers, colours, words, shapes etc.
4.30 – 6.00pm
Free play, activities and home time - developing skills in a range
At home time our 'A Day in the Life Of...' sheets will be handed to parents/carers,
detailing how children have got on and what they've done/achieved throughout the day.
Toddlers will have one set sleep time after lunch. We encourage our pre-school children not to sleep throughout the day in preparation for school. However We will work with parents if required to establish a routine that suits their child’s specific needs.
